Golf Schools for Specific Niches
Brand New Players
Are you just starting out with golf? Maybe you don't even have a set of clubs yet, or just a junk set inherited from your father? Many golf schools are tailored for the absolute beginner, to keep you from learnign bad habits as you get started.
ESPN Golf Schools offer their one-day Beginner's Tour over fifty times each year across the country. The schools are held at leading golf courses (Legacy Golf Club in Sarasota is one of my favorite under-$99 courses) and the course includes a brand new set of Nike golf clubs and a Nike golf bag.
Short Game and Putting
Dave Pelz is one of the most acclaimed short game instructors in the world. His research has found that golfers lose almost 80 percent of their shots to par inside of 100 yards from the hole. The host of the self-titled "Dave Pelz Scoring Game Show" has developed both a 1-day short game clinic and a 3-day short game golf school.
Pelz' courses work on distance wedges, pitching, chipping, sand play, and putting. Alumni of Pelz' programs are eligible to sign up for follow-up "alumni sessions" to fine-tune their game.
Golf Psychology
"WHAT THE MIND CAN CONCEIVE...THE BODY CAN ACHIEVE".... That is the tagline for San Diego's Mind Power Golf School. Featured by both Golf Digest and Golf Magazine, Dr. Jason Denaro focuses on creating a repetitive swing using a combination of swing techniques and neuro-linguistic programming.
For Women Only
Pine Needles Golf Course in Southern Pines, North carolina is one of the country's great golf courses, and home of the 2007 U.S. Women's Open tournament. Pine Needles' "Golfari" golf school program, designed by legendary Peggy Kirk Bell, is equally well regarded.
As part of its committment to women's golf, Pine Needles offers a half dozen "Ladies Only"golf schools each year. The three-day Pine Needles program includes a significant amount of on-course instruction plus green fees.
